DEQ Approves PBR Modification for Rocky Forge Wind

The Rocky Forge Wind project in Botetourt County has now received authorization for its Permit by Rule modification from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. Previously approved in 2016, this modification will allow the project to construct and operate taller, yet fewer, turbines. The modification allows for up to 22 turbines with a height of up to 680 feet.

This project has been in development for years and we’re excited to build the first onshore wind project in Virginia. The successes of this project would not have been possible without the diligent work from Botetourt County and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, as well as the support we received from the community as a whole.

Thanks to all for the support, especially those in Botetourt and the surrounding communities who have stood behind this project for years. Rocky Forge Wind is on track to start site preparation work this winter.
